Sultan: Movie Review

"JAB ZINDAGI TUMHE PATKE TOH TUM PHIR KHADE HO AUR AYESA DAAV MARO KE ZINDAGI CHIT HO JAYE"SULTAN ALI KHAN

This film is a perfect example of the above mentioned quote.

When Sultan Ali Khan (Salman Khan) a simple guy from a small village in Haryana falls in love with a state champion wrestler Aarfa ( Anushka Sharma), things start changing knowingly or unknowingly.

Life comes to a turning point when Aarfa is reffered to Sultan’s girlfriend by his fellow mates, for Aarfa never considered Sultan more than a friend, adding her slap and insulting words for Sultan like calling him a gawar and she being Sultan’s aukaat ke bahar  kind of girl triggers him to enter into the field of wrestling. So as to make his own aukaat among others.

Hardcore training scenes with the title track of the film definitely gives some Goosebumps to the audience, thanks to Ali Abbas Zafar (Director) and Vishal-Shekhar (Music Directors).

Sultan won the state wrestling championship and Aarfa’s heart by creating a history by openly challenging a wrestler from double of his weight category, thus proving that no one can defeat him  except himself, which he quoted later in his speech.

A perfect love life comes to an awkward halt when his guroor (Arrogance) of being called as SULTAN- THE ULTIMATE WRESTLER took over his head after winning the Common Wealth Games in Delhi- 2010 and Olympics in the following year.

A love story with appropriate ups and downs keeps the audience juggling between their feelings of love, inspiration and hate.

What happened that Sultan decided to walk out of wrestling and started living a life of a simple 9 to 5 office worker at such a peak point of his career? What made him to loose all his interest in life and wrestling, which actually added 8-10 years to his life and just merely a big hanging belly to his body??

Watch Sultan for this heart moving climax that touches every single viewer of this film.

Randeep Hooda playing a little role but an important character in the film enters into Sultan’s life who eventually becomes a guru for a middle aged and an over weighed Sultan to come back in shape and winning the Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) tournament and the heart of Aarfa.

Nothing much of Randeep has been explored in the film thus commenting about his acting in the film would be a bit tough, although we all know about his marvelous acting skills from his past movies.

Salman as sultan in the film inspires the audience to go after their dreams, but could have been better as a Haryanvi villager turning into an international wrestler.

Anushka did fit in the role of Aarfa but her acting as a wife and as an inspiration for her husband makes us appreciate her more.

Watch Sultan for its inspiring story line, for it delivers a strong punch and a strong emotional core that really moves you.

This film might add some more respect for Salman, thanks to his character in the film.
