Madaari:  Movie Review

“Baaz ne chuze pe hamla kiya… kahaani sachchi lagti hai lekin achchi nahi lagti, Baaz pe palat war hua… kahaani sachchi nahi lagti… lekin khuda kasam… bohot achi lagti hai.” – Madaari

Irrfan Khan has surely entertained his audience once again with his amazing acting skills, for Madaari is  another example of a milestone on the road towards hardcore acting.

Nirmal Kumar (Irrfan Khan) an electrical engineer, who earns his living by installing wifi(s) at houses and previously described himself as an ideal voter, one day comes across a situation where he finds his child crushed under a bridge that fell on hundreds including his son due to its faulty construction.

This heart breaking situation becomes a turning point in Nirmal’s life where he finally decides to avenge his son’s death by exposing all the corrupt people involved in the bridge’s construction.

From the official teaser itself it was clear that Irrfan was going to kidnap the son of the Chief Minister to take revenge of his son’s death.

But this film had something more to offer to its audience.

Revenge is not the only content in the film, it also showcases corruption, it builds a sweet relationship between the kid and Irrfan Khan.

This rollercoaster journey is quite interesting because the protagonist in the film is constantly moving from one place to another, meeting new people and hiding from some people in the crowd. Thus, leaving no space for a drag in the film.

The dialogue “100 crore logon ki tarah dikhta hun… kaise dhundoge??” surely will give you some Goosebumps. An intelligent kidnapper for a very emotional reason is the USP of the film, keeping the audience together till the end of the film.

The cinematography could have been much better for some of the powerful scenes were kept too simple, maybe the director wanted to keep it simple, but I think the impact on the viewer would have been much stronger if the simplicity was avoided in certain scenes.

Jimmy Shergill had a great screen presence and could easily attract the audience's attention towards him.

Go and watch MADAARI for its content, powerful performance and a heartwarming weekend experience.

Kabali: Movie Review

Kabali: Movie Review

A guy who won some space in a don’s heart, Tamilnesan (Nassar), by fighting bravely against the foreign company for the rights of the Indian employees, could have never imagined what kind of a life was waiting for him.

Kabaliswaran or Kabali (Rajinikanth) eventually becomes an important person for the present don Tamilnesan and starts assisting him for every campaign and other underworld works.

This gradually gave him (Rajini) a good base to become the next don after Tamilnesan and a much expected hatred by the other competitors.

This hatred deepened to such an extent that kabali is trapped in a false charge, by some of his fellow gang members, of starting a massacre at a temple that killed many, including his wife. And is imprisoned for 25 years.

The real thrill of the film starts now,

After Kabali gets released from prison after 25 years he immediately resumes charge of his old gang who remained loyal to him. He goes in search of all those betrayers for only they were the sources from which he could get some clue about his wife. Because for him in the prison only the memories of his young pregnant wife accompanied him whenever he felt lonely and depressed.

He soon confronts Loganathan or Loga (Mime Gopi), a drug smuggler, who still wants to kill Kabali for he still remained a threat to his empire and drug smuggling business.

The further suspense and some revelations in the middle of the intense scenes makes this film a good weekend entertainer for the audience.

Basically, this is a typical Rajinikanth film, so a much expected style is carried throughout the film, which can however is proved by the nonstop whistles and howling of the audience.
Not being an acting oriented film, much of the acting skills of Rajinikanth is not showcased in the film, which to a certain extent disappoints some viewers, who would be in a search of content in it.
Songs are a big drawback of the film for the dubbed version has irritating lyrics (maybe because it was simply translated from Tamil to Hindi).

Talking about direction and cinematography, the film was able to bind the audience together for these two factors played an important role in helping thr film to sail through those 152 minutes.
Go and watch KABALI for Rajinikanth's style, for Radhika's convincing acting and to wonder why this film broke all the box office records.

Sultan: Movie Review

Sultan: Movie Review

"JAB ZINDAGI TUMHE PATKE TOH TUM PHIR KHADE HO AUR AYESA DAAV MARO KE ZINDAGI CHIT HO JAYE"SULTAN ALI KHAN

This film is a perfect example of the above mentioned quote.

When Sultan Ali Khan (Salman Khan) a simple guy from a small village in Haryana falls in love with a state champion wrestler Aarfa ( Anushka Sharma), things start changing knowingly or unknowingly.

Life comes to a turning point when Aarfa is reffered to Sultan’s girlfriend by his fellow mates, for Aarfa never considered Sultan more than a friend, adding her slap and insulting words for Sultan like calling him a gawar and she being Sultan’s aukaat ke bahar  kind of girl triggers him to enter into the field of wrestling. So as to make his own aukaat among others.

Hardcore training scenes with the title track of the film definitely gives some Goosebumps to the audience, thanks to Ali Abbas Zafar (Director) and Vishal-Shekhar (Music Directors).

Sultan won the state wrestling championship and Aarfa’s heart by creating a history by openly challenging a wrestler from double of his weight category, thus proving that no one can defeat him  except himself, which he quoted later in his speech.

A perfect love life comes to an awkward halt when his guroor (Arrogance) of being called as SULTAN- THE ULTIMATE WRESTLER took over his head after winning the Common Wealth Games in Delhi- 2010 and Olympics in the following year.

A love story with appropriate ups and downs keeps the audience juggling between their feelings of love, inspiration and hate.

What happened that Sultan decided to walk out of wrestling and started living a life of a simple 9 to 5 office worker at such a peak point of his career? What made him to loose all his interest in life and wrestling, which actually added 8-10 years to his life and just merely a big hanging belly to his body??

Watch Sultan for this heart moving climax that touches every single viewer of this film.

Randeep Hooda playing a little role but an important character in the film enters into Sultan’s life who eventually becomes a guru for a middle aged and an over weighed Sultan to come back in shape and winning the Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) tournament and the heart of Aarfa.

Nothing much of Randeep has been explored in the film thus commenting about his acting in the film would be a bit tough, although we all know about his marvelous acting skills from his past movies.

Salman as sultan in the film inspires the audience to go after their dreams, but could have been better as a Haryanvi villager turning into an international wrestler.

Anushka did fit in the role of Aarfa but her acting as a wife and as an inspiration for her husband makes us appreciate her more.

Watch Sultan for its inspiring story line, for it delivers a strong punch and a strong emotional core that really moves you.

This film might add some more respect for Salman, thanks to his character in the film.
